Charity begins at home, and children in Los Angeles are going to bed hungry tonight.

Melissa Sheehan Clarkson of Manhatten Beach is doing something to change that. She has adopted 25 local low incomes families in Los Angeles who live on $15,000 a year or less through the Department of Public Social Services' (DPSS) Adopt-A-Family Program program. She has met all of these families herself and hand picked the ones she is working with.

This Charitable (501c3) program provides gifts such as toys, school supplies, clothes and food to help the families and celebrate the holidays in a special way.

Melissa's Mutt Hutt ("MMH"), is a Manhattan Beach and Santa Monica based pet nanny services business. The Vikings Charity ( http://www.vikingcharities.org ) one of the Southlands leading charities for disadvantaged children has also teamed up again

Please note all donations are 501c3 deductions!

                                                          Melissa needs your HELP!

Last year, we sent out an email to clients of Melissa's Mutt Hutt friends and family, and received over $25,000 in dollars of toys, shoes, children's clothing, food, gift certificates, gift cards and canned good donations. I was so overwhelmed...what started as one family, wound up with me delivering gifts with my Dad dressed as Santa Claus and my mom and I dressed as elves to over 150 people in Los Angeles. They cried, hugged us and invited us into their poverty stricken homes. The houses were clean and proud without telephones, central heating, Internet or TVs for the most part. The kids and parents make very humble wish lists and we didn't meet one single person who did not need a guardian angel to help them.

This year, we are doing it again, but this time, I'm better prepared.  I have several options for each of you.
